Lia’s extensive career as an actress and director spans both stage and screen.
Lia is noted for playing Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor in the Netflix series The Crown. Other recent television credits include Nadia Herz in the second series of The Missing, Alice Warner in Kiri alongside Sarah Lancashire, Dr Cooper in the BBC adaptation of His Dark Materials and DCI Garland in the BBC six-part mystery thriller, The Capture.
Lia’s career as a stage actress as seen her play parts penned by Shakespeare, Ayckbourn, Pinter, Ibsen and Williams, to name a few, and has taken her from West End to Broadway.
Lia has directed short films since 2002. In 2008, Lia’s short film The Stronger was nominated for Best Short Film at the BAFTA Film Awards, and won Best Short Film at Raindance. In 2021, Williams directed an acclaimed production of Doubt by John Patrick Shanley at Chichester Festival Theatre.
