Matt Mattox, Jazz Dance Pioneer

We were very sorry to learn of the death on 18 February of Matt Mattox, a dancer, choreographer and teacher who helped shape contemporary jazz dance in the United States and Europe. London Studio Centre was honoured when Matt staged his wonderful work, Les Fleurs du Mal, for the Jazz Dance Company’s (at that time called Wildlife) inaugural tour in 1996. The students who had the opportunity to work with him at that time were very lucky!

Old Times

Lia Williams alternates the roles of Anna and Kate with Kristin Scott Thomas, in Harold Pinter’s Old Times at the Harold Pinter Theatre, also featuring Rufus Sewell. A wonderful opportunity to see the interpretations of two leading actresses in fascinatingly different roles.

Di and Viv and Rose

Tamzin Outhwaite has just completed a sold-out run of Di and Viv and Rose, alongside Gina McKee and Anna Maxwell Martin at the Hampstead Theatre.  Reprising the role of Di in the play’s transfer from the Downstairs studio, “Outhwaite becom[es] startlingly moving” (Kate Bassett, The Independent).

A 5 6 7 8!

A Chorus Line has opened to rave reviews at the London Palladium.  Scarlett Strallen “movingly captures the desperation of Cassie….Her solo performance of the challenging number ‘The Music and the Mirror’ proves both a technical tour de force and deeply touching” (Charles Spencer, The Daily Telegraph).  Also in the cast as Swing and Assistant Dance Captain is Ashley Nottingham.
