Some of LSC’s renowned alumni reflect on the importance of starting their professional training at 16:
“LSC's versatile professional training provided me with the next level of challenge I was looking for at 16 and was an ideal preparation for my performance career in dance and music theatre. The highlights so far have been performing in Matthew Bourne’s works ‘Swan Lake’. ‘Nutcracker!’ and ‘Edward Scissorhands’, as well as in musicals such as ‘Cats’, ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘Addams Family The Musical’. The broad range of techniques and theatre styles that LSC offers stood me in good stead for the full and varied career I've enjoyed so far." – Gavin Eden
“For me, starting at that age was the perfect time to immerse myself in full time training. I felt ready for it, driven, and hungry to learn. Since graduating I have performed in a number of shows, including ‘Wicked’ in the West End, Matthew Bourne’s ‘Swan Lake’ and ‘The Car Man’ and ‘Kiss Me Kate’ to name some highlights. Had the opportunity to train not been available to me because of my age, it would have been a huge shame to postpone my training and the path that my career then took.” – Freya Fields
“Since graduating from LSC at the age of 19, I have performed as part of ZooNation, performing in ‘Into The Hoods’ and ‘Some Like It Hip Hop’ and ‘Sylvia’, as well as other stage shows, such as ‘Magic Mike Live London’ (Dance Captain), ‘Blaze’ and ‘Thriller Live’. I have also done commercial work dancing for artists like: Beyoncé, Ellie Goulding, Rihanna, Take That, Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, Pixie Lott, Elton John and more.” – Ross Sands
“Starting LSC’s course at 16 gave me the core technical foundation for my performing career that followed at 19 years old, which took me across the UK and Europe. Performing full length ballets with a live orchestra to an appreciative audience was my goal that I couldn’t have achieved without my training. Experiencing the choreographic process as a student was invaluable and helped me fit into professional company life and establish myself as a company member. I learnt so much and grew up very quickly at LSC: they set me up with the tools so I could shape my performing career.” – Samantha Bosshardt
