Summer Programme 2016
This July and August we opened our doors to dance students from overseas and across the length and breadth of the UK. The students aged from 12 to 18, travelled to London Studio Centre to take one or more of our specialist short courses on offer this Summer. We pride ourselves on offering a series of insightful and enjoyable courses in Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz and Musical Theatre and Hip Hop. These exciting and repertoire-based courses are all taught by our experience dance faculty and leading professionals within their field.
Each day on the Summer Programme included a ballet warm up, technique classes; tailored to the genre of the chosen course and culminated with workshops and repertoire classes where the students could really stretch their skills with professional choreography. As part of the Ballet Summer Programme students learnt repertoire from major classical ballets including Coppelia, Sleeping Beauty and Giselle, as well as works with a more neo-classical feel. Within the Contemporary Summer Programme, participants had repertoire workshops by the Mark Bruce Company and New Adventures Company. When choosing the Jazz and Musical Theatre option, students were taught repertoire from Wicked, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and Matilda. And on our Hip Hop Summer Programme participants had Zoonation and X-Factor inspired workshops, from leading choreographer Nikki Trow.
At the end of each short course participants were able to produce an informal demonstration to show family and friends what they had been up to through the duration of the course. We were over the moon with the feedback received, the work ethos and attitude of all students was outstanding and as a consequence they were able to achieve a lot in such a short length of time. This fast-paced series of specialist courses for aspiring young performers and dance artists has energised and inspired us over the Summer Break and we look forward to seeing you all again soon!

“She has improved her technique and knowledge as well as having had a lot of fun. I was lucky to be able to come to the showing on the Friday afternoon and it was delightful to watch not only the high standard of dance but the enjoyment of all the students. Thank you again!”
