24 students and alumni perform at the Adelphi Theatre
LSC students and alumni have been cast in a very special performance of Thoroughly Modern Millie in aid of mental health charity Mind. The show is being staged by the Showtime Challenge as part of their 48-Hour Musicals project, and will be performed at the Adelphi Theatre on 20 March 2016.
Current student Gabrielle Pemberton appears as Rita, while graduate Emily Watkins plays the part of Lucille in the story of a small-town girl who moves to the Big Apple, only to get caught up in romantic entanglements and the drama of an oriental kidnapping ring.
Current students Heidi Dilley, Penny Osborne-Brown, Aisling Turner, Sarah Morley, Elle Locke, Charlotte Alloway, Melissa Diprose, Joe Rose, Matthew Burridge, Lance Collins and Daniel Woodger will all perform in the ensemble and dance troupe, while alumni Rachel McKellow, Emily Noke, Charlotte Pask, Imogen Mercer, Karen Walker, Leanne Coupland, Carolina Moura, Rosie Bretherton, Amy Pullen, Shaunagh Stones and Morgan Scott also join the cast, with Ashley Nottingham as Choreographer.
The students and alumni will appear alongside established musical theatre performers, including Forbidden Broadway star Anna-Jane Casey, who takes on the role of Muzzy. The whole show is created in just 48 hours and includes a cast and production team of around 100 actors, dancers, musicians and behind-the-stage team. Actor Warwick Davis will host the event, with profits going to Mind, a charity dedicated to supporting anyone experiencing a mental health problem, campaigning to improve services, raising awareness and promoting understanding.
LSC is delighted to see so many students and alumni involved in this unique production. To buy tickets and to find out more, visit the Showtime Challenge website.
